Hard Rock Park features Punk Pit, psychedelic dark ride. A TWO PART SERIES FROM SCNOW.
In Part Two of our behind-the-scenes look at the Hard Rock Park, we take you back to the park as construction nears completion. We took another walk with park designer, John Binkowski.
This time, the tour started in the British Invasion. It's one of the six environments the park features. “British Invasion is broken into two areas. There's the rural British area, then you go to downtown London where we have Piccadilly Circus,” said Binkowski. “The London underground, all of those things because the Brits feel like they had a lot to do with rock-n-roll."
"We have a dark ride called ‘Nights in White Satin--The Trip,’ which is a psychedelic park ride to go on,” Binkowski pointed out. “Also we have The Punk Pit. You know punk was very big in Britain, still is. There you have kids and adults and can all go into a big bounce house and jump to some of your favorite punk rock groups."
Binkowski and his team focused on tiny details to really give the park goer a true musical history tour. "This is the same place the Rolling Stones and The Beatles hung out and got their pictures taken. And today, Cold Play and Arctic Monkey get their pictures taken in front of the same red brick and red phone booths. What's nice is this works for all generations.”
Music is the core focus of the park, and concerts will play a large part of the experience.
Binkowski stomped down the metal stairs of one of the four stage areas. “So you can see this place can come alive for a concert in fact, even though during the day, it does feature the Roadies Stunt Show, at night we can load in a band and we can play to 2000 people."
The park is only a few weeks away from opening. The park will hold a soft opening April 15th and the Grand Opening May 9th.
News 13 will continue to cover events leading up to the opening. You can also see more Hard Rock news as we take our 5pm and 6pm newscasts on the road to Hard Rock.
