Captain's QuartersCourtesy of TripAdvisor Reviews for Captain's Quarters of Myrtle Beach
November 27, 2011 - Myrtle Beach in the fall is very inexpensive. Had a great time at Captains Quarters. This was our first stay here. Property has indoor and outdoor pools. Lots of stuff for kids to do like an arcade and bowling alley. Right on the ocean, big plus. Our room was a single king bed with kitchen. Had great view of ocean. Might be an older property, but our unit was very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay here again. Word of advice, if you use a GPS to get to Captains Quarters Resort, you will most likely be directed to go to Ocean Blvd in Surfside Beach, so watch for that (this happened to me!). And yes I did specify Myrtle Beach in the address line on the GPS. November 1, 2011 - My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week in October. The room we stayed in was a oceanfront double suite. It was very nice and there was lots of room for the 2 of us . The first night we checked in we went to the fire and hula show and it was spectacular. The resort is well maintained and clean. The have many pools , hot tubs and lazy rivers. The also have a swim area for the kids with a big pirate ship. They also have a bowling alley and a bar in level 6 . The service at level 6 is not that great but we did not go to the bar to much so it didn't really matter. Overall the resort meet mine and my boyfriends expections. Great place to stay. October 21, 2011 - We aren't able to 'get away' often but the 5+ hour trip is a huge refreshing change of pace! We are in our early 60's and aren't into the hustle and bustle of summer at the beach. We have been coming here almost every year to relax and refresh. On this trip, upon our arrival we found we were unable to work the TV and called the front desk. We quickly determined that the batteries in the remote needed replacing and my husband took the remote to the front desk for new batteries. While he was at the front desk the Maintenance person arrived to determine the problem. We were really impressed at how quickly Maintenance had responded. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and lazy river! On one occasion we were in the lazy river and a group of kids came in and started walking in the river and diving under folks. We switched over to the pool until the kids moved on. It was not an issue at all for us as we were there to leisurely enjoy ourselves. The ONLY negative we had was absolutely nothing to do with the hotel or staff. When we arrived there were several folks checking in at the same time and the guests seem to all have issues - finding their credit cards - having members of their party go back to their vehicles for additional items, etc. The issue was definitely the guests, not the staff! We love 'off season' even better than summers and the past few years have gone in spring [not spring break time] and fall. Winters are great also but we aren't able to plan too far ahead mainly because of our own weather - trying to get away! October 12, 2011 - We have stayed here 3 times and enjoyed every stay. Only thing I could ever complain about is that they do need to upgrade their elevators but other than that we love everything about it! I would recommend upgrading your room to a suite, just because they are so newly renovated and it really isn't much more money to do so. Kids have a blast in all of the pools and loved going bowling every day since they offer free bowling during fall break! Very good location too. We could walk to Friendlys for dinner or ice cream, and the main strip was in walking distance as well. The staff has always been super nice! The restaurant on the top floor has also been remodeled and is very good too. if you have kids, this is the place to go, and I will definitely make my reservations here next time as well! September 11, 2011 - My family and I stayed here 9/5/11-9/9/11. I chose here because of the pools, especially the pirate ship (I have a 5 year old and a 1 1/2 old). We had a very nice time for the money. There were many pools to choose from (my husband was a little disappointed because none were over 4 1/2 feet deep), we had a 7th floor ocean view 2 bedroom and the views were nice. We bowled a few days and played in the arcade and had a great time!! The staff was very friendly and we had housekeeping service each day. The rooms were clean, just a little outdated but overall it was very nice. The kitchen provided most things we needed, just not a skillet, only a small pan and a large pot. We did not have the time to enjoy the restaurant there :( Mostly great reviews from us, only wish the bottom parking lot was lit a little better and the room keys kept deactivating very easily. All in all, had a great time, would stay there again. I am already checking the rates to try to take a mini vacation in the winter!! Thanks!! August 13, 2011 - We had to change from our usual hotel due to cost (Captain's Quarters is cheaper) and still oceanfront. I thought is was great for the kids, there was so much for them to do! Aside from the obvious, the beach, the pools were nice, they were warm all the time, there were several hot tubs to choose from, a lazy river (which I don't like but my daughter does), corn hole and shuffle board. Also, the hotel had a bowling alley and restaurant. There are so many activities for children, we saw a magic show, luau with a fire show and audience participation, there was a "pirate" with a parrot that the kids could pet etc etc I didn't have the trouble the other people mentioned with the staff, the ones I dealt with seemed friendly. The only real negative was there was always a huge line in the lobby, to ask questions you had to go at night. July 24, 2011 - We have spent long weekends here a couple of times a year for the last 6 years. We always get an ocean front suite. It looks straight out on the water. If you can get the 11th floor or higher you can look a good ways up the beach. 10th floor and below the view up the beach from those suites is blocked by another past of the hotel building. They have a number of inside pools and several outside pools which works well for visiting anytime of the year. They also have a decent bowling alley onsite. The resort is older but they seem to always be upgrading somewhere. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. For some reason check in always seems to take a long time but we have never had a problem with our reservations. June 18, 2011 - This is such an awesome place to stay with Children! Rooms are awesome. This is our 3rd year staying at cqresort. And we will never switch hotels. It's great value great fun, staff is most helpful. Pools are the best thing! My Kids and us really really enjoy the pirate ship lagoon. And the rooms are good, great views, flat screen tv. If anyone is skeptical about staying here don't be. It's really a kid friendly very comfortable hotel that meets all requirements! We love love love it! I have 3 children 7,5,1 and it's absolutely perfect for us! May 26, 2011 - Love this place. The front desk staff was fast with the check-in and they were really nice. When we got to the room the AC was already on and the room was very clean. Well stocked with towels. We got a room with a full kitchen and the kitchen was very clean. The only thing I would suggest is to take your own cookware. The cookware they supply is really cheap and everything was sticking to it. Other than that I have no complaints. The pools were all very nice. The balcony was very nice and the ocean view was incredible. I have a 17 month old and he loved the kiddie pools. The bowling alley was really nice. I was able to walk to the Family Kingdom from the hotel as well as my elderly father. We were also within walking distance to the 2nd Ave pier. Again I loved this hotel. I would definitely stay there again. Apr 29, 2011 - My husband and I needed some rest and relaxation. And even though it rained and was terribly foggy while we were there we had a great time. The indoor pools are clean and in good working order the water was warm and comfortable. There Were enough for the adults indoors as well as for the children with 2 lazy rivers inside (wish there had been some type off slide for children and 3 very accommodating hot tubs and large indoor pool. view was good from the room when you could see. Only recommendation there is no early check in they say 3:00 pm and they mean 3:00 pm. Apr 27, 2011 - This was our 2nd time staying here and it really is a great place for kids. We arrived on Friday in the pouring down rain with a 5 yr old, 10 yr old, and 11yr old. No problem- they had indoor pools, lazy river, arcade, and a bowling alley to keep them occupied, until the sun came out. There are also pool tables and a bar if the adults want to play too. Saturday they had the Easter Bunny and some Sharks walking around taking pics with the kids and a Luau party complete with Hula girls and guy twirling fire around. The kids loved it! The staff was friendly and accommodating both times we were there. This is a family oriented place- so there are going to be lots of kids...with that comes screaming and yelling- so those people complaining about noise-obviously aren't around kids much. LOL Our Room was right across the hall from the Arcade/Bowling alley and we didn't have any problems sleeping. The beds could have been a little softer, but hey, it's a hotel-they can't please everyone-bring your own pillows if you want a little bit of home. I am a single Mom and I totally recommend this place if you want a decent place that is OCEANFRONT and not at an outrageous price. There is plenty to do even it it rains. We will be staying there again. Apr 19, 2011 - We had a great stay, I wish it didn't have to end. My boyfriend and I with my two children stayed at the resort. I will admit after reading all the reviews on line before we went I too was nervous. We had an Ocean angle view room, and it was so nice clean and newly remodeled. The kitchen and bathroom was really nice. The breakfast was great every morning. My children had a great time and so did we adults. We can't wait to go back and visit the resort. Apr 17, 2011 - Thank you staff of Captain's Quarters, on arrival which I say was earlier than reservation planned, we had no trouble being given a suite for the evening, let me mention that it was two doors down from where we were registered for the month, the reason being so that we did not have far to move our luggage, does this happen often that this consideration would be given to guest "Do Not Think So" in all our travels has never happened before. From the front desk employees to the laundry room staff, these people are willing to go the extra mile for you, no question was unanswered, no deed to difficult. The Resort is quiet, while being busy with all that goes on, the accommodations are great, lots of room to move around in the suites, and is close to all shopping, restaurants and outlets and the beauty of "The Grand Strand" I could go on and on but the "Question being" would I recommend this resort to family and friends...already have and more on their way. Can not wait to see you in 2012, and again thanks to Jason, Kristal, Linda & Freida, our family at the Quarters, you are all exceptional individuals and an asset to the Captain's Quarters Team. Apr 10, 2011 - The hotel was open in the middle so Thurs, Friday, Sat. were loud til 2:30 am, couldn't sleep. Nice pools but where a bit chilly. Indoor pools nice and warm, but one hot tub was low on water for two days. Older decor on the inside but clean. Staff was very helpful. The bowling alley was too much of an adult party all the time. Wouldn't recommend in the evening for families. Send us your review of Captain's Quarters today. Check out our complete list of Myrtle Beach Hotels.
