Compass Cove ResortCourtesy of TripAdvisor Reviews for Compass Cove Resort of Myrtle Beach
October 6, 2011 - My husband and I had a friend recommend Compass Cove so we decided that we would try it. We've only been to Myrtle Beach a couple of times even though we only live 2 hours away. After staying at the Compass Cove and enjoying everything they had to offer and the great service, we will definitely come back more often. We stayed the first few days of October and the weather was great and the crowds were gone so the parking was wonderful everywhere we went. I give Compass Cove 5 stars! September 29, 2011 - My husband and I both thought this resort was excellent for the money spent for a mid September vacation. (Hint prices went way down after Labor Day) Excellent location and excellent service. Lots of pools and jacuzzis. We stayed in an oceanfront efficiency. Room was a little out dated but very clean. Balcony was large with a beautiful view. Very nice beachfront property. September 12, 2011 - We checked in the day after Hurricane Irene blew in but there were no signs of her whatsoever. Check-in was easy and quick. We were directed to a lady trying to sell us a condo by our check-in guy and I didn't really like that. We went with my wife, in-laws, and our 3 year old son. Stayed in the Schooner building on the third floor. Great view and not too much work getting into the room. The room did have a slight odor when we walked in, but it either went away or we got used to it. All the lazy rivers and slides and things were awesome for our son. The room was kind of small for four adults, and the bathroom was tiny. One problem we had was the A/C freezing up at night, but maybe I shouldn't have turned it on full blast all night. There was a little dirt and grime in the corners of the bathroom and kitchen. There were staff members everywhere and you have to wear a wrist band they give you anytime you use the pools or other water attractions, so it felt like safety would get five stars. The tiki hut is a nice touch, too. I had reservations about staying here due to bad reviews, but our stay was really good. It's not a five-star resort, but it's very good for beach front and family vacations alike. Check out was also very easy. Very friendly staff. August 17, 2011 - This was my 3rd trip to Myrtle Beach and I stayed at Compass Cover every time. This trip my whole family, a group of 11, went and we rented two 3-br condos. The service was fantastic as always. My first 2 trips I stayed in the Pinnacle building - the condos were in the Mariner building. We selected ocean front rooms and it is well worth the extra money. The balconies are wonderful little get-aways. We were very pleased with the breakfast buffet at the Compass Rose, the Crow's Nest bar and grill, and the Tiki Hut. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The pools and lazy rivers entertained many of our group - but the beach was what I liked the most. It is very well kept - very well patroled - and the lifeguards are very efficient and on the ball. They monitor the conditions closely and monitor the swimmers closely keeping everyone in safe waters. When you find something so ideal, there is not much incentive to try anything else. July 28, 2011 - My family just returned from a 4-night stay at Compass Cove. We found it to be an excellent property to stay for families. We allowed each of our children to bring friends, so keepig 4 teenagers entertained without spending a huge amount of money was a concern. Compass Cove alleviated those worries. We had beachfront King Suite in the Pinnacle Building. We were very pleased at how close we actually were to the water. We always stay Ocean Front in Myrtle, but sometimes find our beachfront properties are still q quite a distance from the beach. The 23 water features (though some were small kiddy pools and hot tubs) kept all the kids occupied so that my husband and I could chill at the Tiki Hut. The boys especially loved the two new waterslides. We enjoyed the family-friendly Karaoke in the Crow's Nest each night. The only slight downsides were that the elevators took FOREVER! Fortunately we were on fourth floor, so we walked it. The room itself was very clean, but the bathroom is very small, which was a challenge. The view and location made up for that. You could vacation here all week and not leave the property. Be sure to look for the giant chess and checker games! July 9, 2011 - This was the first time to stay at Compass Cove and it's now the only place we'll stay when at Myrtle Beach! In fact we liked it so much we extended our stay by two days so we actually occupied 2 rooms during our stay(and they even moved our luggage etc for us)! Both rooms were clean, in good repair. Liked having the security bar on the sliding doors and loved that hotel security were very visible all hours of day and night. We were treated "like family" by members of the staff, especially at check-in, in the restuarants and grounds staff at the pools & slides. Everyone made us feel welcome. We will be telling everyone to stay at Compass Cove because they made our vacation so special. June 22, 2011 - I booked the week so I could take my daughters and grandsugars for a fun, family vacation week to celebrate the end of school! I have stayed before but my daughter with the young children (ages 4, 5 & 9) had not. They absolutely loved everything. We went to the grocery store the day we arrived, just for snacks and drinks. Everything else is made readily available. The TIKI HUT was my fav for lunch! They cook burgers, hotdogs and chicken on a grill outside! Happy Hour is at the TIKI HUT also. Breakfast is a Great Buffet. You can have it in your package or pay on the mornings you go. Dinner was nothing fancy, so it was just alright. Entertainment is around everyday. The pool selections were great~~~something for Everyone! The childrens pools were set up so that parents could actually socialize with each other. This is a great place if you need to keep young children busy. We will certainly do this again, and in less than a year! June 5, 2011 - First year staying at Compass Cove and we loved it! My two children (under age 10) loved the pools so much that I couldn't get them to the beach. So much for kids to do! Kids Club activities with things like shark tooth hunts, bingo, etc. kept them entertained as well. The room was clean and so were the pools. They had warm towels at the pools so I didn't have to lug around our beach towels, which was great. We ate lunch at the outdoor grill which was great but never tried the breakfast so I can't comment on that. There were always security and other staff members walking around the pools and the rest of the grounds which I have never seen at a hotel before. It was apparent that they took customer service very seriously. If I had one complaint, it would be the beds were a little hard. The prices were very reasonable for the amenities and I will definitely recommend to my family and friends. May 10, 2011 - I cannot speak more highly of this resort. We visited over Mother's Day for the first time and were really taken back by the friendly staff, cleanliness and just really beautiful grounds and pools. We loved our room and had a great time here. I have recommended to everyone I know and we cannot wait to stay here again. We stayed in the Schooner bldg. oceanfront and could not have been more pleased. Apr 28, 2011 - I have been going to Myrtle Beach for the past 20 years and have stayed at a variety of different resorts and hotels. This was my first year staying at the Compass Cove Resort and I loved every minute of it. It has great amenities for adults and especially children. The service and staff were very friendly and accommodating you our needs. Its a great spot to just relax with friends and family. They have outdoor games, live DJ, indoor restaurant and bar, outdoor charcoal grills, outdoor tiki hut with food and drinks that everyone can enjoy. Loved it, and booked my reservation for next year before I even left. Apr 27, 2011 - I traveled with my husband, 2 teenage daughters, and their teenage friend. I would not regret one moment of us staying at Compass Cove. The 3 girls always had something to do. They would either be on the beach with the variety of other kids their age, at the pools/hot tubs, or singing karaoke/playing other games. This place is not just for kids; my husband and I had a great time as well. It is in a great location for walks on the beach or down the boulevard. While we stayed at the hotel it was booked full. However, it handles the crowds very well. The pools were never too busy to get in and same with the beach! The place is huge! I plan on bringing my family back year after year and staying at Compass Cove. This resort made our trip fantastic! Apr 26, 2011 - Upon arriving in Myrtle Beach I had an awful experience at another resort which was filthy and disgusting. I vowed to never return to Myrtle Beach! However, I came across the Compass Cove and an beautiful spirit named "Barbara". This resort has so much to offer families - I will be back next year! The customer service was second to none from the reps at the front desk to the housekeepers. We thoroughly enjoyed our last 2 nights at Compass Cove from the food to the pools to the Karaoke at the onsight restaurant. It was great fun. I do think the rooms would be even better if they changed out the wallpaper or scrubbed it down every now and then. But that won't deter me from visiting again. Compass Cove and especially Barbara, thank you, thank you, thank you! Apr 19, 2011 - Our family stayed here with teen's and a five year old and they all had a blast staying here! There's so many pool's and hot tub's that there's plenty of room for everyone staying at the hotel. The suite we stayed in was very clean and right up to date in decor. I was very satisfied with our stay and would definately recommend staying here to anyone. I know that when we come to Myrtle Beach again this is where I'll be staying! Apr 14, 2011 - Took my family for 5 nights and we all had a great time. The condo was perfect (Mariner 3 BR oceanfront on the 6th floor). The condo was clean and well outfitted for our stay. The view was fabulous and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The kids and teenagers had a blast in the lazy river, pools, and hot tubs. They also loved shuffle board and, of course, the beach itself. The hotel is within walking distance of Myrtle Beach State Park which was a nice outing (though we were pretty exhausted by the time we got back). It was not crowded but I would think the pools would get pretty crowded during high season. The kitchen meets your basic cooking needs but lacks corkscrews, bottle openers, peelers, blenders, etc so make sure you bring specialty items for cooking. We would definitly go again. I did notice a sign regarding a water outage as mentioned in a previous review and thought it was odd they would rent rooms if there wasn't water. Seems like that would be illegal. I'm sorry to hear that the manager did not handle the situation appropriately. That would tick me off too. But we had nothing but a good experience. Send us your review of Compass Cove today.
