Grande Shores Ocean ResortCourtesy of TripAdvisor Reviews for Grande Shores Ocean Resort
October 23, 2011 - We stayed during the month of October, the weather was excellent! It was the first time my mom (age 67) had ever been at the beach and she absolutely loved it. Great experience for her and our family. Wish we could of stayed for a week, but next year we will and it will be with Grande Shores. October 11, 2011 - Grande Shores is always an excellent resort. I have been taking our family there for the past 5 years and would not think of staying anywhere else in Myrtle Beach. The location is great and the views are beautiful. The rooms are very spacious and the staff is always friendly. This is a very family oriented resort and we look forward to going back each year. September 12, 2011 - We had everything we needed in our room and the rooms we comfortable and clean. This was the first time we stayed there and we drove right up in the parking garage to the floor we needed and our room was just a few steps away. We had a wonderful experience did not like that the 7th floor pool and lazy river were down while we were there. But understand there was a crack in the pool and had to be repaired. August 4, 2011 - This was our first stay at the resort. It was recommended to us by a friend. It was a lovely experience. Our room was nice and clean. The beds were what you would expect...nothing fantastic but comfortable enough. We were on the seventh floor which put us right outside the rooftop pool area. This was great and convinient. The staff was very friendly. The cleaning service was also great. We were right on the beach. We had a kind of sideways view of the ocean which was still very nice. I would say the only negative thing we found about the hotel is the pool area closes at 10pm and they are serious about it too. Most hotels there keep their pool areas open 24hrs. But even with that we will be back. It was a great experience and I recommend this resort to anyone. July 16, 2011 - Had a great vacation in Myrtle beach this past week. The staff at Grande Shores was awesome! Had to call down to the front desk a few times and all of our calls and needs were answered quickly and all our requests were met in a timely manner. The hotel itself was a little out dated but if you are looking to save some money you should check this place out. Besides, who stays in the room all day on vaca anyway?! There was one front desk employee that stood out to us. Unfortunately I cant recall his name. Maybe Cam or Cris. Anyway, he was great! Definitely recommend a stay here! July 9, 2011 - Love the lazy rivers (2 of them), 1 indoor pool, 2 outdoor pools, 2 outdoor hot tubs and one indoor hottub! The kids love playing in the pools even more than going to the beach. Also love that in the 2 bedroom units at least, the 2nd bedroom has 2 full beds rather than two twin beds like most condos have. Must more comfortable for more people than sleeping on a couch bed, although that was available as well. For those looking for a fancy hotel, this is not it but it is a good value with lots of amenities. Free wifi. June 13, 2011 - This was our first trip to Myrtle Beach and did not know what to expect. First the resort was incredible the rooms are up to date and very clean. The guest services were very courteous and well knowledgeable of the area. The resort is situated right on the beach. There were some many shells on the beach that the kids came home with so many different ones. They have 3 pools. The first one was on the first floor and indoors. The second and third pools are on the 7th floor which overlook the ocean. May 23, 2011 - My husband and I found this hotel the night before our travel dates for a spontaneous weekend getaway. We're Army so we were on a pretty tight budget but really wanted to try for an oceanfront hotel. We really lucked out with this one. It has a great location.. very convenient to everything and anything.. and the Boardwalk is just about a ten minute drive south. May 14, 2011 - During our recent stay, there was some remodeling going on but didn't bother us during our stay... The hotel rooms have had great views... Enjoyed the bar, loved it was nonsmoking, the wings were so good and excellent prices... We stay several times and the staff are so nice and helpful...can't wait to come back next fall!!! Apr 25, 2011 - The hotel is a little dated, but if you're not going to spend a lot of time in the room, no big deal. It is nice because it has a full size fridge for beverages and left overs, and a microwave to do basic heating and reheating. The parking was great because it was attached to the building, and very easy to get to your room - from the car. And the oceanfront rooms just could not be beat - especially for the money!! Apr 23, 2011 - With the price we got for an ocean front room, our expectations weren't very high. Me and my girlfriend knew we wouldn't be spending alot of time in the hotel. The room didn't look any different from the rooms I stayed in as a kid 20 years ago. The location isn't in the thick of things, but a good distance between everything you'd want to see as a tourist. I was looking forward to relaxing in the pool, but I was turned off by all the children frolicking (and probably urinating) around so I passed. All in all the Grande Shores didn't have anything that I hated, but with literally no updates it gave me no reason to look them up specifically on my next trip. The parking deck is a double edge sword. Sure you can park next to your room on the top floor, but the sharp turns seem very dangerous. Mar 27, 2011 - In February we spent a week at the Grande Shore in an efficiency ocean front room. The main purpose was to join relatives from other parts of the eastern seaboard. This was off season so the price was almost unbeatable. Right on the beach and convenient for beach walking plus some spectacular sunrises. Comfortable balconies and Ocean Front rooms have the best views. Beds were very comfortable and the room was clean to the eye. Good housekeeping service. The staff was friendly and helpful but at times the front desk was under staffed. There is a restaurant but we walked out because the atmosphere was so smokey. On the night of our arrival we wanted to get food to eat in the room but the kitchen closes at 8pm. The bottom line is that the eating area is really a lounge/bar. Mar 23, 2011 - My wife and I stay at the Grand Shores at least four times a year when we visit Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet. That’s almost a one hour drive from the gardens, but has been worth it, until recently. Grand Shores is an older establishment, but has always seemed to be well kept and in good repair. Our visit last November, however, was met with a few problems. Suffice-it-to-say, we moved to another room. I figured, “Hey, everyone has a bad day now and then. Give’m the benefit of the doubt.” Our visit in February, however, was fraught with problems. Besides the usual key cards having to be reprogrammed three times, the room was a disaster. Many of the lights and outlets didn’t work. The HVAC unit didn’t work properly. The bathroom door was broken. The shower rod had been ripped out of the wall. Neither the ceiling light nor powered vent worked in the bathroom. The toilet was broken off the floor. And, to top it all off, every time we flushed, the toilet backed up. Instead of a repair, we got a plunger. Needless to say, we wanted a different room. We were told, “Sorry, none available. We’re full.” My wife and I are extremely disappointed. We and our friends, have been going there for a number of years now. Not anymore. It’s time for us to find somewhere else. Oh, one more thing, don’t waste your time complaining to corporate. It’s a lesson in futility: Kind of like urinating on the windward side of the vessel. Mar 20, 2011 - From the moment we walked in to the minute we left we were treated like royalty! Staff were always cheerful and helpful. Everything we could need for the week was in the unit. If we asked the front desk for something, it arrived at our door within minutes. We had a 3 bedroom condo and it was immaculate, spacious, with comfy beds and pillows. There are 3 different pool sections and all the pools/lazy rivers were heated and clean. My 6 year old could touch the bottom so that was perfect! Happy hour in on site restaurant which was a popular spot! There is a grocery store, gift shops and liquor store all within walking distance. Of course, the view and beach are fabulous! 100% recommend this resort! Send us your review of Grande Shores Ocean Resort today. Check out our complete list of Myrtle Beach Hotels.
