Horizon at 77thCourtesy of TripAdvisor Reviews for Horizon at 77th
November 11, 2011 - I enjoyed myself more this time that I did the last time! This time we arrived on a Wednesday and left on a Saturday - we were in a one-bedroom condo with a very large balcony; previously we stayed in a two-bedroom. There were ample enough pillows and closet space. My family was able to hook up the Xbox 360 in link into the free Wi-Fi....they had hours of fun! We were told that since we were staying less than three days we would not receive maid service, but after going out for several hours on Thursday, we returned to find that the dishes we had left in the sink had been washed, the bed had been made and the towels that I had left in the washing machine had been dried, folded and placed neatly back into the bathroom. We were very pleasantly surprised! Maybe the staff was not busy on that day and decided to check in on the room...I don't know. I was very thankful for this consideration! And no, we did not get the same service for the rest of our stay. But that was ok! My family and I really enjoyed our stay this time! October 31, 2011 - This was my 2nd time at the Horizon. It is located in the northern part of Myrtle Beach, close to some good restaurants and attractions. Our room was not ocean front, but you can see the ocean from the large patio. Tip-ask for a higher room number, the view is better. We stayed in a 1 bedroom side view and the kitchen had granite countertops and modern appliances with dishwasher and washer/dryer. The dining area and living room were a good size and opened up to the largest patio I have every had in Myrtle Beach. The furnishings were new and modern w/a flat screen in living room and bedroom. The bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The bath was average size, but had a Jacuzzi tub. The pool areas in this hotel are small compared to some in MB, but worked for a short trip. Overall, well worth the price and will be back. October 18, 2011 - We spent the last weekend at the Horizon's at 77th in Myrtle Beach. Check in went smoothly and quickly although the lack of signage was a little confusing. The room was clean and quiet and very nicely appointed. We were on the 3rd floor and had a very nice relaxing ocean view. Everyone we met on staff were very friendly and outgoing. The beach was a quick walk and was not overcrowded. All in all, a nice place for the money and we would not hesitate to stay there again. September 22, 2011 - The Horizon offers everything a family, couple or friends traveling together would want. My two night stay, in a great room, with beautiful ocean view, was excellent. The room was large, clean and quiet. The room was cleaned early and well each day. It was nice to come back and the room was done. The Manager was always around, making sure the guests were OK. There are so many pools and things to do I don't think we did them all. Most of my time was spend by the pool, in the lazy river. One thing about the pool that was awesome was that there was always enough lounge chairs. I never had to wander around looking. So many resorts skimp on the chairs. The Horizon does not. The bartenders were friendly and the prices more than fair for beachside bar. Good job Horizon. The hotel is close enough to walk to a couple bars and a 24 hour diner type place. This was a great bonus. I would recommend the Horizon to anyone looking for a nice vacation, good pools and within walking distance of bars and restaurants. September 1, 2011 - We had a bad experience at a place a few blocks away last year, so I was looking for a new hotel in this area of Myrtle Beach. I was very pleased with the room...we had a large 2 bedroom, a lovely view, the balcony was huge and overall the unit was very large. We LOVED having laundry in the room and wi-fi just for our room that isn't shared among other units. The front desk was very helpful and most importantly, the building and unit is VERY clean. It's a very close to the beach and you are also able to use the facilities at Grande Shores next door, which has an Oceanside pool, lazy river, and bar and grill. My only issue with the unit was that the lighting in the bedrooms is poor...I called the front desk to see if they could get us another lamp and shortly after someone showed up with one. Much better! We had a great experience and will certainly be returning in the future. August 24, 2011 - We had the 3 Bedroom Suite in the West Wing (Best Location) on the 8th floor. We were surprised that the Suite looked just as the pictures showed. The place was extremely clean and even though we only had a side view of the Ocean it was BEAUTIFUL. Also, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived 2-3 hours before the check-in time, they gave us no hassle. We had a our room within 20 minutes. We assumed it was because we paid in advance but whatever the reason we were GLAD because we went out and did all out grocery shopping for the week so we could avoid doing it on our 1st full day. I must say, we didn't know how we were going to like staying so far up on Ocean Blvd, but afterwards we enjoyed be away from the crowd of the Condo's/Rental Properties. In the past (2 other occasions) we stayed at Sand Dunes and Horizon is 10 times better and very clean. We can't wait until next June, we usually start planning in February so by June we are so ready for a vacation. July 25, 2011 - This is by far the best hotel we have ever stayed at. Even our honeymooners thought it was an outstanding resort. From the moment we parked in the parking deck until checkout, we were treated with the utmost respect. Only had a minor issue with a running toilet. But, that was fixed pronto. It was very clean and quite comfy. Cannot wait to come back in September for our fun time again. The hotel is close to all the major attractions not to mention the OCEAN! Fantastic view. Loved the upgrade. Thanks again. June 2, 2011 - We were very pleased with the hotel. Our accommodations were spacious and well maintained. We asked for balloons in the room for our arrival for the granddaughter and were very pleased with the number and presentation of them. The staff was very friendly and willing to please. Parking was a plus. There is a very nice parking garage with plenty of room directly attached to the hotel. Previous visits to Myrtle Beach have found parking at a premium, and often off-site. Our only slight disappointment was that the hotel was not right on the beach and we were unable to tell this from their online description. There is one hotel between this one and the beach. May 14, 2011 - We spent the week of April 30 to May 7 at Horizon 818. After spending 10 years at a neighboring resort, this was a welcome and wonderful change! The condo IS beautiful. Spotless. Well decorated. The balcony is amazing. We were pleasantly surprised at the great view (ocean, beach, inland, and sunset!). It was completely quiet with no noise from within the hotel. A great feature is the sliding doors to the balcony. Great bedroom with plenty of storage for clothes! The kitchen is just right and very modern with everything you need! The bedroom, dining area, and living room all have their own doors to the balcony and we spent a lot of our indoor time with all of them wide open to enjoy the fresh ocean air and the sound of the waves. The skipping the front desk feature was perfect! The parking garage is a great benefit for keeping your car in the shade and being able to park near the elevator. Looking forward to next year! Apr 28, 2011 - This is our second stay @ Horizon. It is a real gem. While staying hear this time I ask to check out the 3 BR condo so I would know what it looked like & the layout (seeing as the sister property Seaside Resort was a disappointment). The front desk told me had did had a unit that was not occupied & I was welcome to check it out. My husband and toured the 3BR condo (Rm 316) & it was extremely spacious 1KG/2QN/2QN w/ each BR having its own bath. The master had a jacuzzi w/ separate shower & it's own water closet. The was also a 1/2 bath in addition to the 3 full baths along w/ a full size (not stackable) washer/dryer combo. The frig look like it had seen better days but that was the only negative I saw. Nice size living/dining/kitchen combo. Upon returning the key, the front desk attendant advised that they also offered a 2 KG BR/1 QN(2beds) that actually had a bigger living area. This place opened in 2008 and I have to say it still looks great. & has been taken care of. You have a nice walk to the beach, but the accommodations certainly make up for not being directly on the oceanfront. Apr 21, 2011 - Horizon at 77th was very nice. The Resort is located on the quiet end of Ocean Blvd. The rooms are clean, modern and spacious. The only complaint I had was the location of the TV in the King 1 bdrm unit. The TV is located above a console unit and the location of the bedroom door forced you to close the door to watch TV from your bed. The kitchen has all your necessary utensils. The pools are not to entertaining for children over the age of 10 because they are small and not very deep. Overall, a great stay at the Horizon and we would definitely go back. Apr 11, 2011 - I have stayed at the horizon more than once, my friends and I enjoy it tremendously. After golf or family entertaining we enjoy going to the restaurant for a pleasant meal and a place to relax. We like the idea that we can go there and enjoy a few drinks with smoking allowed, it is getting harder and harder that will accept us smokers. The staff at the restaurant are excellent at what they do. Never having to ask them twice for anything that we want. And served politely and friendly. The hotel is just great all over...the food is delicious, my favorite is bacon wrapped scallops. Oh yes the wings of course. Keep it up and we will be back over and over again...thanks horizon. Mar 31, 2011 - My husband and I, along with another couple, stayed in a 2 bedroom for 7 days, and we loved it. Like everyone says, its clean, modern and spacious! We even had another couple come visit for 2 days, and still found it large enough. The staff was always friendly and very helpful. Checking us in and our golfing requirements were taken care of quickly and efficiently. The only problem we had, if you even want to call it a problem, is that we were told we would get house keeping one day out of the 7, but we never did. It wasn't a big deal, since we kept the place neat ourselves. We also ran out towels and toilet paper, but if you call they will send someone to bring it. We found the location great too. Its near several good restaurants and most everything you need, is also close by. Because of the time of year (mid March), we could not take advantage of the beach, but we did take a walk along it, and I would imagine its great in the summer months. So in conclusion, yes, I would definitely return to Myrtle Beach and stay at the Horizon again! Feb 7, 2011 - This hotel has large rooms. We stayed in a 2 bedroom with over 1000 sq ft. I can't say enough about how nice the actual room size is. The only drawbacks are the location. The hotel is at least 400 hundred yards from the beach, it is an okay walk unless it is hot. The couch in our room was very uncomfortable if you plan on sitting on it for any length of time. When we checked in the employee was not very friendly, seemed to just want to get us checked in and out the door, even though we were the only ones in the lobby. They do have an indoor pool but it is only a pool, my 8 year passed on swimming in it saying it would be too boring. I would not stay here again for a family beach vacation, it would be perfect for a guys only golf trip. Send us your review of Horizon at 77th today.
