Springmaid Beach Resort and Conference CenterCourtesy of TripAdvisor Reviews for Springmaid Beach Resort and Conference Center of Myrtle Beach
September 27, 2011 - This was our 5th trip to Myrtle Beach in the last 6 years and our first stay at Springmaid Beach Resort. It will NOT be our last stay at Springmaid. From now on it will be the ONLY place we stay and will be our home away from home. From the very friendly people at check in at the beginning and all the way to the end of week, every single bit was perfect! Rooms, facilities, food, beach, pier EVERYTHING.......truly. Is the place a bit older? Sure. Is everything top notch modern and no blemishes? Of course not. But it was clean, updated, and everything at your fingertips. Although we drove since we were going for 10 days, we realized that with Springmaid we could fly down for a long weekend and not have to even rent a car because everything was right there on the resort. There are pools (indoor and out), the pier, tackle/gift shop, restaurant (with excellent buffet!), cafe/bar with great food for quick lunches, fishing, swimming, miniature golf, and probably other things we didn't even discover this trip! THANKS SPRINGMAID! September 12, 2011 - I stayed at this resort in June 2011 for a conference. This was perhaps the 4th/5th time I've been at this resort. Food is very good...buffet style....and they provide many choices. Breakfast best meal overall each day. Room was very clean (which says something for a beach location...how many times have you walked into a room beachside and found sand everywhere in a supposed 'clean' room?) Bed was comfortable, noise not really an issue even though I was near the elevator. The only problem I had was that I had asked for 2 rooms that had an inner connecting door between them. I guess someone at reservations thought they gave me 2 adjoining rooms but in fact gave me only 1 room with the adjoining door. No big deal, just had to go outside to see the rest of the family. For the conference aspect, our conference center room had multiple microphone/sound system problems...was very hard for those that attended to hear the speakers. Staff seemed very concerned to fix the sound problems, which they eventually did. I will more than likely attend the conference again if it's at Springmaid again in the near future. September 8, 2011 - We stayed at Springmaid Beach Resort for the Labor Day weekend from September 4 to September 6. We bought a LivingSocial deal for 2-nights for $169 ($340 value) that included an oceanfront room upgrade, free breakfast buffet, mini-golf, fishing and arcade credits. So getting that good deal was our reason for staying. I think the resort is a bit outdated. The room we stayed at was fine, not great. The only great thing was the view. It was clean but there are things that needed to be upgraded and/or fixed. The bed was comfortable enough. The breakfast buffet was pretty good--a lot of variety. I do, however, like the fact that they have several pools and a lazy river. All in all it was a good stay. August 27, 2011 - My sister and I enjoyed a 3 day get away doing absolutely nothing except whatever we wanted to do! The place was really nice and the price was great too! Breakfast was very good and next time we plan to bring others. Everything we needed was provided with one phone call! Great staff, housekeeping ladies and even the maintenance men made us laugh! I love ocean front rooms, so other than having a slanted oceanfront room, everything about this property works for everyone! August 12, 2011 - This was our second stay at Springmaid. We came here in March the first time and stayed in the Cypress building- our rooms were clean but we were underwhelmed. This time we stayed in Palmetto building room P418 and we were very happy. The best part of the room for me was the water pressure. I know that seems like s knit-picky thing but the water pressure is so good that taking a shower felt like a spa experience. It was like getting a massage after a long day. The AC was also a high point for us. Our view was over the pool but also the full ocean view as well. There was no noise while we were there either so that was nice. Overall I had no complaints about this resort whatsoever and we will be back. August 7, 2011 - I went to the Springmaid Beach Resort in mid-July 2011. Although the hotel's infrastructure is noticeably 70's chic (tiny elevators, garage not geared toward SUVs, and old school bathrooms), it is an affordable and clean option with very nice resort options. The on-site restaurant and the resort's beach front is very pleasant. I plan to stay at this resort within the next two years again. July 23, 2011 - We have been visiting Springmaid as an extended family for at least 25 years. We always have a wonderful stay. It is a great place for families. We enjoy being at Myrtle Beach but not having to be in the hustle and bustle of the busy tourist area if we don't want to be. It's a great place at a great price! July 1, 2011 - The resort has lots for both kids and adults. There are several pools. One of the pools has tubes for kids as well as adults to ride. The location is less than 5 miles from the airport. It is easy to get there from the Myrtle Beach Airport. The resort is right on the beach, you do not have to cross any streets. The rooms have flat screen tvs, refrigerators, and microwaves. The refrigerator is full size. You also have a safe for you cash things of value. The WI FI is excellent, there are several hot spots to connect. I noticed when I looked at my network connections I had 3 choices , and chose the one with the best connection. Some hotels have certain areas where you can not pick up the WiFi signal. Springmaid has done a great job making the WI FI connection strong. The area was so beautiful, I took several short videos. June 15, 2011 - Our first visit to Myrtle Beach. We were so glad that we were staying at the Springmaid!!! There must be a couple hundred hotels along the strip and we were close but not smashed in with the rest of them. Everything you need is right there but lots of restaurants are close. Our room was on the second floor and had an OK view of the ocean but a higher floor get a better view because you are above the palm trees. The room was very spacious, attractive and clean. The outside carpet was a bit worn but understandable with the salt air. Lots of free covered parking. We loved having access to the resort's big pier. There are lots of pools, also a snack bar and a restaurant but we did not eat in either of them. Apr 13, 2011 - I have stayed in many hotels/motels on our trips to Myrtle Beach and Springmaid will always be on the top of our list. It is close to most all the activities anyone can do at the beach. The staff is very informative of the area and answer any questions we needed answered. Apr 11, 2011 - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel offered many discounts to local attractions. The pier was great and I loved the indoor pool. Overall a GREAT place and I would definitely stay there again. Apr 2, 2011 - We arrived on March 30th and departed on April 2nd, and stayed in the Live Oak building. This building is the most recently renovated and has a pleasant decor one would expect from a beach property. The TV was a flat screen and had a good complement channels for all tastes. Our room included a full size refrigerator and a microwave, as well as a heating/AC unit with digital thermostat. Each room has a balcony with two chairs and a table, and every room in the Live Oak building has a view of the ocean. The entrance to the room and the balcony access have wood laminate flooring. The shower has very good pressure, even on the higher floors, as we were on the 5th floor, and in both the vanity and shower, there are wall mounted pumps which contain soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. The only issue we encountered during our stay was due to our neighbors who chose to ignore the posted "quite time" from 11PM to 8AM; they partied from 11:30 PM to 3:30 AM the first night of our stay. The good news is that they checked out the following morning, and we enjoyed quiet evenings from our new neighbors. Breakfast was included in our room rate, which was a buffet with the usual suspects, an omelet station and waffle maker. If you walked away hungry, it was your own fault. The property includes a large fishing pier that has a small cafe/bar as well as a gift shop. The outdoor pool and lazy river were not in service when we were there, as it was still quite chilly. The indoor pool was in good repair and served its purpose nicely. Overall, the trip was well worth the money, and the children had a great time. We will certainly consider this property again for a Spring Break vacation again. Mar 19, 2011 - Stayed at the hotel for one night and things were horrible after we put the key in the old outdated door. I made reservations through hotel.com and paid for oceanview. Guess what no oceanview more like a palm tree view and building view. I called the receptionist and they informed me "unfortunately all of our rooms are considered ocean view, you can upgrade to another building for an additional $40, but at this time we are sold out in the building you are in." I than asked if I could cancel and was informed I would have to contact hotel.com to cancel. So, I call hotel.com and they contact the RESORT (more of an outdated motel room) and the resort say I have sort of an ocean view room and we can cancel but I would still have to pay the full price of the room. What sense does that make to cancel if I'm not going to be reimbursed. By the way the pictures that are advertised on the website look nothing like the room that's advertised. On a positive note the room did appear to be clean just very old. If you are looking to stay somewhere like the pictures that are advertised don't waste your time or money! Mar 19, 2011 - Buffet Breakfast was great, especially "Ray the omelette man". Gotta have one of those ! He was just one of the warm and friendly staff that cater to you. Loved the pier, parking was excellent , rooms were nice (but the two chairs were pretty beat up) and well kept. Location was #1 for a nice peaceful vacation, away from the madness, but close to everything. It was our first time back to Myrtle in 30yrs, boy has Ocean Blvd ever changed. We used to stay at a nice little Mom & Pop motel that is now gone. Well, Springmaid with it's approx. 500 rooms felt like a Mom & Pop motel. Only complaint, fitness center needs work.
