New North Myrtle Beach Shopping Outlet
Barefoot Commons takes shape in Myrtle Beach
The site of the former Grand Prix Family Thrill Park has gotten a makeover.
The Barefoot Commons (a Myrtle Beach shopping center), which will eventually include 90,722 square feet of restaurants, small retail shops and other specialty stores, now sits on the tract in North Myrtle Beach.
Sticky Fingers and Wachovia Bank will move into two outparcels.
Developers are in talks with a national restaurant to lease a third outparcel, and a fourth is unclaimed.
A 48,500-square-foot Super Bi-Lo, which opened this week, anchors the center. Horry Telephone Cooperative and Ivy Creek, a home decor store, also are open.
About 78 percent of the space has been leased by businesses and restaurants, said Randy Bosse, a partner with the center's co-owner, 1st Carolina Properties.
Other stores to open soon:
Beef O'Brady's, opening Monday
Coastal ABC
Top Line Nails, opening April 1
Euro Salon and Spa, opening in March
Empire Fire Mongolian Grill, opening in April
The Kids Center, opening in March
Dog Club Spa
Construction started on the center in 2006 after the Grand Prix amusement park closed.
It's being developed by 1st Carolina Properties and former Grand Prix owner Mark Lazarus under the name Barefoot Commons LLC.
1st Carolina also developed Sunset Commons in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., a 67,922-square-foot center anchored by Piggly Wiggly.
