Annual Toys For Tots Drive at Barefoot Landing
November 20 - December 15, 2009
Help children in Horry and Georgetown Counties have a Merry Christmas! Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the following Barefoot Landing locations: Fire Island Grille, Barefoot Landing office, Joe's Crab Shack, Welcome Center (Dockside Village), The Barefoot General Store, & TBonz.
All toys collected will go to needy children in Myrtle Beach, SC and surrounding areas. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.

6th Annual Murrells Inlet Oyster Roast

Alex's Lemonade Stand Charity Event

In an effort to join the battle against childhood cancer, South Carolina Twilight Moms will host a New Moon Extravaganza Alex’s Lemonade Stand Charity Event on Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 1-5 PM at Revolution’s Night Club, 1320 Celebrity Circle at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer is the official charity of Twilight Moms. The extravaganza is slated to include a concert, pick a prize auction, Twilight and New Moon trivia game, food and more!

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). At the age of 4, Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $25 million towards fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 100 research projects nationally.

We will then explore the beach habitat for washed up treasures. This program will consist of a 1/4 mile leisurely stroll.

Santa hats will be given out to the volunteers.

Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

The North Myrtle Beach Christmas Tree will be officially lit on Friday, December 4th at 6:00 pm at McLean Park.The Park will be transformed into a brilliant holiday scene with luminaries, decorations and the spirit of Christmas. The ceremony will begin at 6:00 pm and include entertainment by local dance groups. Also enjoy holiday songs from Mary Kline and MC Susan Trexler.
Mayor Marilyn Hatley will welcome attendees and begin the countdown to light the glorious 36-foot Christmas Tree. The tree will be decorated with over 2,780 lights.
Once the tree has been lit, the children are invited to visit with Santa and receive a free bag of candy while the entertainment continues!
The North Strand Optimist Club will serve complimentary hot chocolate and refreshments. Bring the entire family for a fun Christmas celebration in North Myrtle Beach.

Annual North Myrtle Beach Christmas Parade

For many years, the Annual Christmas Parade has brought delight and holiday cheer to North Myrtle Beach’s residents. On Saturday, December 5th, 2009, the tradition continues as Main Street in North Myrtle Beach fills with familiar holiday songs, colorful floats, marching bands and beauty queens.

The parade will begin at 5:30 pm. Join your community as we watch local business’ and dignitaries parade down Main Street in celebration of Christmas. The parade route will travel down Main Street to Ocean Boulevard and will disperse on 2nd Ave North.

Each Saturday (Dec. 5, 12, 19) in December before Christmas, bring the kids and the pets and have their photo taken with Santa. Each child and pet will get a holiday gift or treat.
Visits with Santa and photos will be taken in the Lakeview Courtyard by the carousel at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, SC.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR SUNDAY DECEMBER 6TH---SNOW IN THE INLET!
Get in the holiday spirit with the annual community parade, "Christmas Boats and Floats for the Kids"! Come and enjoy the fun as the Murrells Inlet, SC Christmas parade starts at Willcox Avenue and marches down Business 17. Immediately following the parade, meet at Morse Landing Park for the tree lighting ceremony and watch as snow is expected to fall! Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit with the children at the park. The Christmas tree will be lit and the Eagle Scouts will man a bonfire to take the nip out of the air. Choirs will entertain the crowd at the park. This event is a must-do for all the kids and the grown-ups who still have a lot of kid left in them. Happy Holidays! Christmas Parade starts at 3p.m.
